Christmas Outreach

On December 25th we are going to have a Christmas party at the church. We will be showing the movie, The Nativity Story (this link will take you to Amazon to buy the dvd since it is so good).  After we watch the movie we are going to serve tamales and frijoles a la charra, the traditional Christmas meal here. We will also have presents for all the kids and a piñata filled with tons of candy.  Checo made 100 invitations and we handed them out at church.  We told all the people that go to the church to invite their friends, family, and neighbors.
You might be thinking that Christmas day is a terrible time to have a Christmas party at the church... that no one is going to come... that Checo and I are going to have to eat all 400 tamales by ourselves.  Well, we hope not.  The tradition here is that everyone gets together with their family on Christmas Eve (from about 10pm until 2am).  I know that's really late!  All the kids open their presents at midnight.  And then on Christmas Day, most people just hang around their houses.  So we are thinking that Christmas Day will be the perfect time to have the outreach.  A lot of people have already told us that they are looking forward to coming.
We appreciate your prayers for this event.  Our hope is that people will come and hear the real story of Christmas, that God humbled himself and came to earth in the form of a baby, and that baby was Jesus Christ.  We are praying that many will accept Jesus as their Savior, as only He can forgive our sins and give us eternal life.

Here is a picture of the invitation:

You all know how bad I am at taking pictures, but I really am going to try hard to remember to take pictures this time.  So hopefully in about a week or less you will be able to see pictures of the outreach here.
