Crazy Weather

Monterrey is known for its drastic temperature changes in winter.  Checo tried to tell me about this before we moved here, but I didn't fully understand until now..... New Year's Eve day was beautiful, the sun was shining and it was 80 degrees!   I took Samuel and Emma to the playground here in our neighborhood and I even got a bit of a tan on my face.  I thought winter was already over and summer had arrived.  WRONG!  The very next day the temperature dropped to 43 degrees and the wind was blowing.  I know, I know, some of you are thinking, "What?!?  43 degrees, that's nothing."  The thing is, 43 degrees sure feels cold when just the day before it was 80.

Emma all bundled up on the 43 degree day.  I know, I look pretty tired!  But at least my face is tan (I told you I got a tan the day before).

I took this picture today.  Yes, they are wearing hats inside the house.  It's pretty cold in here- no insulation, cement walls, space heaters to warm us up!  Thanks to Mary Hansen for the cute handmade hats!  Sammy's favorite hobby is to suck his thumb anytime he's near Emma and he grabs her clothes with the other hand.

Emma's trying to get out of the laundry basket.  She pulled herself up and was ready to jump out!  Sammy is laughing because she's escaping.

I love the pics. What a little character that Sammy is. He has such a great sense of humor! He probably thinks he taught her that trick.

Thanks Lis. Yes, Sammy really is quite the character. His new trick is to climb into the walker and get stuck. He's enjoying trying out all his old toys that Emma is using now.

When Jorge saw these pics he thought that Emma was looking a little like Emery does at some moments. And I do see some resemblense in the 2nd pic! I was hoping they might look alike since we never did!
