New People at Church

We have had several new people come to our church the last few weeks.  We hit a record high church attendance last week.  There were 29 people (19 adults and 10 kids) and I missed it!  I stayed home with Sammy and Emma because Emma was still a little bit sick from the virus?/bacteria?/food poisoning? (we don't know what it was) that swept through our house when my mom and sister were here visiting (more about that on a later post). 

We are so thankful that God is sending more people to our church to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.  We really appreciate your prayers for us and the church.  We still need more Sunday school teachers.  Esther (Checo's mom) is still the only teacher for the kids and I am in the nursery with the babies every week.  Checo has been recording the sermons so that he can make cds for us to listen to later, but it's been a little tricky to do this because we don't have all the right equipment at the church to do this.  He is going to get a recording thing (I don't know what it is, but he knows all about it) so that he can record the sermons and then make cds right there at the church after the service and hand them out to anyone that missed the sermon right away. 

As I've mentioned before, we have a Tuesday night prayer and discipleship service.  Checo just finished teaching through the book of 1 Timothy and this Tuesday will start a new study.  It is based on the book, El Gran Panorama Divino (It's called "God's Big Picture" in English).  We feel very strongly that the Bible should be taught as a whole, and this book does a good job of summarizing the whole Bible and it shows how everything from the Old to the New Testament points to Jesus.  Checo has also been encouraging everyone in the church to read through the entire Bible this year.  He handed out reading plans at the beginning of the year with the chapters to read daily in order to finish the Bible in one year.  So back to the Tuesday night study- each week, we will read one chapter in the book on our own and every Tuesday Checo will teach about that chapter that we just read.
