Well, this isn't exactly our house. Ours is about 4 houses down from this one, but it was gated off the day we went back to get pictures and we couldn't get to it because it is still under construction. Ours looks similar to this one, but it has more tiles on the front. As you can see in the first picture, the houses are VERY close together here. That is the norm for Monterrey. You won't find houses with lots of space in between them like in good old West Seattle. Usually there is a house right behind you also, without much of a backyard at all. Fortunately we don't have neighbors right behind us- we will have a park. The park is still under construction, but it will be really nice to not have the noise of people right behind us. The house has a living room, dining room, bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room downstairs. And upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We have a tiny backyard, and also a little grassy patch in the front (as you can see in the picture, the grass isn't planted yet). We are so thankful that we found this house. It is in a gated community and there is a gaurd on duty, so it is very safe. The other great thing is that there is a pool for us to use! Our house is almost finished. They are just doing the finishing touches and it should be ready for us to move in on Saturday, March 14th!

The architecture is so different there. Is that normal? Or is that just the design of that specific development? Your new home (look-a-like) looks light and airy. I picture breezy curtains and a bright area rug. I hope you have lots of energy to get everything homey and nesty before baby #2 arrives!
And also? How are you guys always wearing pants and long sleeves in the pictures? Except some of Samuel. I feel like I'd be incapacitated by the heat.

Yep, we'd love to have visitors. Only 1 more week until we move in! Checo went to pay for the house and sign the papers today and then it's officially ours!
Yes, the architecture is different here. The houses in older neighborhoods look different- not as modern, but they still don't look like the houses in the US. They don't use wood to build them either- it's all concrete blocks and stucco, because wood is very expensive here.
The reason we're wearing pants and long sleeve shirts in most of the pics is because all of our "summer" clothes were packed on the moving truck and we didn't get that stuff until 2 days ago. I sure wasn't thinking that it would be in the 80s-90s here in February. I was thinking (and so was Checo) that it would be more like the 70s, so I thought we'd be comfortable until the truck was here- WRONG!
In parts of Europe they're making "houses" out of those big, metal freighter boxes. They insulate them and stack them like apartments. I learned about it on NPR.
