Saturday Kids Program

As you have already read, we haven't oficially started the church or Sunday services. But we are doing a Kid's Outreach every Saturday at 5pm at the church. The reason we are doing this is because before we got here, there was a church doing this outreach in the neighborhood and they were renting the church building from Checo's grandma. We offerred for them to continue using the building on Saturdays for the Kid's program, but they did not want to. So instead of just dropping it all together, we decided that it would be best to continue the Kid's Outreach on Saturdays, at least until we have Sunday school for the kids up and running. We might even continue the kid's program after we start the church, we'll have to see.
Right now there are about 8-12 kids coming. These pictures are from the first week that we did it.

I had brought a few of Samuel's toys for him to play with while we were there. Little did I know, everyone would want to play with them.

We have only done it 2 times, but the second week, there were 4 more kids than the first time. Here's what we've done the last 2 weeks: We start with some praise and worship songs- the kids love singing, especially when there are motions or movements to go with the songs. Then Checo teaches a little lesson (when I say little, I mean little, about 5-7 minutes). The kids range in age from 2-13, so it has to be pretty short. Then we do an activity that relates to the lesson, and after that, the kids eat!
We really appreciate your prayers for this outreach to the kids in the neighborhood! The kids are so hungry for attention- they arrive about 30 minutes early just to hang out in the church with us while we get ready.

How wonderful to continue the existing children's ministry. It would've been sad for those kids to just have it dropped. Such sweet little faces, too!

You and the kids will definitely be in my prayers!
How is it going with your Spanish and communicating with everyone? I'll pray for that too.
And are you eating lots of yummy food?! I bet! I wish I was there to get some of that.

My Spanish is coming along. I still need a little help from Checo sometimes, but I'm able to communicate with people. The kids at the church love to hear words in English, so they ask me how to say certain words and then they start giggling. They also wanted to know how to say each of their names in English.
Yes, there is lots of yummy food here!
