5 Years!

Checo and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on April 12th.  Since I've been such a bad blogger, I never wrote anything about our anniversary, so I figured I'd catch up since I'm doing this silly "30 days, 30 posts" thing. 
Checo's mom came and babysat the kids overnight so that we could get away overnight for the first time!  We went out to dinner and then to a hotel that is up in the mountains (yes, there are mountains here, just more desert-like, instead of the snow-covered ones we are used to).  It was a very nice night.  I was really looking forward to sleeping in since our little "alarm clocks" weren't with us, but no such luck...we were up at 7am.  After lounging around a little (wishing that we were still asleep) we went on a walk and ate breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel.  After breakfast we were ready to head back to see Sammy and Emma.  We already missed them!  We had a great time, just the two of us, but it was a little weird being away from them overnight. 


Yes, I know I look like I'm really posing here....Checo was taking the picture with his arm extended and I was trying to position my neck so that I didn't have 2 chins!  It worked, I only have 1 chin, but I look a little awkward.  This picture was at dinner.  We only took a total of 2 pictures, so this is as good as it gets.


I am so thankful for Checo and for the five years we've had as husband and wife!  We've had difficult trials but God has been so faithful to sustain us through it all.  I like to tease Checo and tell him that it's been "five years of absolute bliss".  I say it sarcastically because we both know that it's not true.  But truly, when I look back on our marriage, I wouldn't trade any of the trials or troubles for "absolute bliss" because it's in those hard times that we have grown in our relationships with each other and with God.
